Ipswich schools will share in more than $9.9 million for new projects, minor works and upgrades following a funding boost from the Palaszczuk Government.

The projects are part of a $220 million investment across Queensland, improving school facilities and supporting more than 720 jobs.

Ipswich West MP Jim Madden said more than $2.6 million would support schools in his electorate.

“This funding is fantastic news not only for these school communities, but also for local tradies who can tender for these projects,” Mr Madden said.

“I’m particularly excited to see funding towards the delivery of a multipurpose hall at Amberley District State School, a project the school and I have worked on for some time.”

Bundamba MP Lance McCallum said local schools would share more than $3.6 million.

“Three blocks at Bundamba State Secondary College will each benefit from $100,000 refurbishments, making them more comfortable and safer for our students,” Mr McCallum said.

“There will also be much-needed facelifts to classrooms across Kruger State School, Goodna Special School, Riverview State School and Collingwood Park State School.”

Member for Ipswich Jennifer Howard said Ipswich Special School would undergo a $1 million upgrade to its learning spaces.

“This upgrade will mean so much to the students and staff, and I look forward to seeing work start on this project and the other upgrades to schools across the Ipswich community,” Ms Howard said.

“We’re committed to delivering world-class education, and I’m really proud to be part of such an inclusive and supportive government for all Queenslanders.”

Jordan MP Charis Mullen said Springfield Central State High School and Greenbank State School would both benefit from funding.

“More than $8.1 million will support the construction of a new building at Springfield Central, with six learning spaces and 10 specialist spaces,” Ms Mullen said.

“Greenbank State School will also see $450,000 go towards the refurbishment of B Block.”

Education Minister Grace Grace said the works would help support jobs for local tradies.

“We always encourage our schools to engage local tradespeople to complete maintenance works and smaller jobs in schools,” Ms Grace said.

“Contractors and tradies who want to be notified of opportunities for any future tender processes for larger projects can register on the Queensland Government QTenders website, if they have not already done so.”
