Members of Parliament in the Ipswich area have welcomed the upcoming arrival of three new police officers to the region following their graduation today at the Oxley Police Academy in Brisbane. 

Member for Ipswich, Jennifer Howard congratulated the new officers who will serve Queenslanders as the newest members of the Queensland Police Service. 

“I would like to congratulate and welcome the three new police officers heading to our region,” Ms Howard said. 

“They will provide further support to the great community safety work police in Ipswich do every day.”

Member for Jordan, Charis Mullen said there would be even more police officers heading to the region in the years to come.

“As part of the Palaszczuk Government’s boost to policing, the Police Commissioner has determined that a minimum of 150 extra police officers will be deployed to the Southern Police Region, which includes the Ipswich Police District, over five years,” Ms Mullen said. 

“That commitment is part the biggest boost to policing in 30 years and will see 2,025 extra police personnel deployed across Queensland by 2025.”

Member for Bundamba, Lance McCallum said many of the new officers had joined the QPS following diverse careers.

“We’re committed to ensuring the very best community safety through our local police service reflecting the diversity of our local community,” Mr McCallum said.

“Every one of these new police officers will bring their unique life experience to the role.

“I wish each and every one of the new officers the very best for their policing careers ahead.”
